This plugin offers IP-based filtering of hosts. It is possible to block hosts from posting comments to our site as well as from totally accessing our blog.
While IP filtering may not be the only best solution, it works well in combination with other anti-spam measures.

Hosts can be blocked in two different ways: they can blocked from completely accessing the site or blog, or they can be blocked from just posting comments to the whole site or just one blog. It is also necessary to know the IP address of the machine that we are intending to block.
This plugin offers two possibilities: hosts can be globally blocked or blocked on a per-blog basis. If hosts are globally blocked, they will not be allowed to acess or add comments to any blog. If hosts are blocked only for a specific blog, they will not be allowed to access or add comments to that particular blog.
Globally blocked hosts can be added via Administration->Site Security->Add Global Blocked Hosts. Blog-specific filters can be set via Manage->Blog Security->Add Blocked Hosts.
The plugin must be enabled in order to work. The plugin can be enabled via Control Center->Security Management->Block Hosts.
